Enroll
Students wanting to enroll in CRS courses must first be UAA students. To apply for admission:
- Go to UAOnline
- New students click on "Apply for Admission" and then "New student."
- You will be asked to create a log in and PIN. Write that information down. You'll need it to check the status of your application later.
- The remaining screens are self-explanatory and should take you about 20 minutes to complete. Note: If you are applying to complete the entire certificate, the course of study you need to select is, "Occupational Endorsement, Children's Residential Services." You may also apply as a non-degree seeking student.
- Make sure that you submit (rather than just save) your application on the final screen.
- When you check back later make note of your student ID number. You will need that to enroll in courses.

Course format:
- On-line course meetings: Classes meet on-line using “Elluminate Live!” a web conferencing tool available to university staff and students. There are meetings twice a week. Each meeting is approximately an hour long.
- Practicum: The opportunity to apply what’s learned in class to on-the-job experiences is essential to student success in this program. The practicum in each course blends development of specific professional skills with opportunities for application. Three credit courses have a 30 hour practicum. A four credit course has a 60 hour practicum. Where possible, students are encouraged to do their practicum activities at work.
A mandatory orientation is required for all new students, regardless of which course section they are enrolling. Failure to participate in the orientation will result in the student being dropped from the course. The orientation to designed to help students be successful.
Seminars will be offered outside of Anchorage when five or more students are enrolled for the course.
